Here is one last nit: if you rewire your headlights, then you lose the ability to leave the lights on deliberately when you shut down the car. DLRs are in addition to regular headlights, even if they are the same bulbs, not an either/or wiring choice for headlights. Your Chevy solution is a good one, but now that is just a matter of your taste in appearance/function/effort vs his. So let me get to my motivation, since you asked; it is my real point, my meta-point. No, I don't want people cheapening our car. If you look at my sig you will see a beautiful outwardly-STOCK specimen -- clean and well waxed. But this is my opinion. Opinion. You are not a primary offender Seedy, in fact I respect nearly all your posts greatly, but nearly every veteran of this board presents their opinon as if it were fact, often with maximum pomposity. I am probably not the best antidote, but I can try to remind people that opinions are not facts, taste is not universal, and calling people "stupid" and making fun of them cheapens our message board far more than an aluminum wing cheapens our cars. Again, most of this is not directed at you, but the above reasons are why I'm not afraid to face clearly gifted mechanics even though I am clearly not knowledgable in a garage. It is why I bother to respond to the real pricks on this board, and they know who they are, who peddle hatred and embrace the same kind of intolerace most people would find disgusting when talking about anything but cars. It is also why I am fairly quick to admit my own factual mistakes when they are pointed out to me. I have done so several times and I think it is a sign of strength, not weakness. I think I have affected some people beneficially, even if it isn't the people to whom I directly respond.
